HP reshuffles webOS management
Hewlett-Packard is making a shuffle in its management for webOS platform. The company has realigned its personal-computer division to widen its reach across the places.
Trusted aides informed that HP has appointed Stephen DeWitt as General Manager of its webOS unit. He will be accountable for developing and promoting the WebOS computer operating system. He will oversee the engineering, research and development, and sales and marketing for WebOS.
Jon Rubinstein, who led webOS at Palm and HP, will take charge of product development and innovation at HP’s PC unit which includes tablets and smartphones as well.
Both will be liable to Todd Bradley, who runs Personal Systems Group.
The reorganization comes in wake of HP's webOS-powered TouchPad tablet. The tech major aims to increase the number of apps allied to the webOS as well as integrate it with the company’s PCs and printers.
HP CEO Leo Apotheker has earlier said that all of the company's PCs will incorporate webOS by the end of next year. This would lessen the Hewlett- Packard's reliance on Microsoft's Windows software.
